Development Process
Filawise utilizes a 5 phase prototype development process to ensure that clients are completely satisfied with our work. A formal review occurs at the end of each phase, at which time, clients may request changes to better align the project with their vision before continuing.
1. Requirement Definition
To start the process, Filawise works with the client to create a list of specific parameters which define their idea. Parameters can be anything that the product needs to include, embody, or do to fulfill the customer’s vision. This list is used as input for Phase 2: Concept Generation. The deliverable for this phase is a Requirements Document.
2. Concept Generation
Phase 2 explores a variety of possible executions for the product based on the Requirements Document. Concepts generated in this stage focus mainly on functionality of the system. Filawise generally pitches between 3 and 5 concepts to the client. Each concept may include differences in mechanical structure or user experience. The deliverable for this phase is a Concept Presentation.
3. Initial design
Phase 3 translates the concept selected in Phase 2 into a 3D model which represents the overall form of the final prototype. This model may not include functional internal geometry or complete detail. It is meant to foster agreement amongst both parties on the overall form of the prototype before design is continued. The deliverables for this phase are Preliminary CAD Renders and an Initial Prototyping Plan with Cost Estimates.
4. Design Refinement
During this phase, Filawise produces a prototype design which fulfills the requirements outlined in the Requirements Document and is capable of being manufactured using industry standard prototyping techniques. Deliverables for this phase include Prototype CAD / Drawings and a Final Prototyping plan with Quoted Component Costs.
5. Prototype
In the final phase, Filawise will build a physical prototype to the specifications outlined in Phase 4 and deliver it to the client.
